Nestled among spectacular mountain vistas in the Tonto National Forest, Globe, AZ is a hidden gem in Gila County Arizona. Founded in 1876 as a mining camp, the rural city still depends on mining and ranching to boost its economy. On top of the rich history and the best Mexican food in Arizona, you'll also find a community steeped in family families and boasting friendliness.
Here, in this close knit town, is where Kismet Foundation was born and where the foundation hopes to make a big impact. Founded by Daisy Flores, a Globe native and local business owner, Kismet Foundation plans to use grants and donations to put back into the local community. With the help of Erika Flores and Sarah Alexander, who are also Globe natives and active in the community as educators and small business owners, a dream-team of sorts now leads the nonprofit. With first-hand knowledge of the areas that could use rejuvenation and special attention, these ladies are on a mission to make Globe a better place to live.
Focusing on strategic funding areas in order to effect the most positive change is a priority of Kismet's. Community rejuvenation, education, animals and underserved populations are the main areas of concentration; however special projects that can help the community thrive are also important. Kismet's motto is "create your own destiny", With that thought, the mission is to empower the people of Globe to make change. So, not only are they hoping to provide amenities and opportunities, but make a lasting impression throughout generations where Globe residents feel called to make change and not just sit back and settle for the status quo.
Be on the lookout for upcoming events and projects that Kismet is announcing and how you can be involved in the mission. Through the help of generous donors and volunteers, Kismet will spearhead activities that will actually make an impact and effect every day peoples' lives.
